Introducing the new children’s book published by Dragonweb. ‘The Children’s Fab and Funsome book of British Festivals’ is a new and exciting hybrid of fact, fiction and fun designed to promote all the historical background to traditional British festivals.
As the title suggests, this book is aimed to teach children ( aimed at Key stage 2) the history and origin behind all traditional British holidays, events and festivals. The book covers everything from Christmas and Easter, Guy Fawkes and Halloween, right through to April Fool’s Day and even the humble Bank Holiday.
With two of the author’s 4 children being Key Stage 2 pupils , she had observed that a lot of their peers had no idea at all why we celebrate or observe many of these events and simply ‘went along’ with it because everyone else does. The general idea behind the book was born as long as four years ago when the author thought it would beneficial to educate children about part of our heritage and also ignite their imaginations with an accompanying story. For smaller readers, the book includes quick-fix ‘flash boxes’ with bite-size facts so they can read the gist and hopefully gain some interest for each event. The illustrations throughout are provided by Key stage 2 children from Bristol and North Somerset.
This book is currently available on the Dragonweb shop front at Amazon as an e-book for £6.59. The hard back copy will be available from mid March at £12.99.
